He became one of the first foreign students in the academy's illustrious 240 year history to be accepted straight onto the full 3-year diploma course. Upon Graduation in 2015, Alessandro joined the State Theatre of Tatarstan (Kazan, Russia), where after his first season was promoted to soloist, and later to leading soloist.
In 2023, Alessandro left the company to join one of Russia’s leading ballet companies - Ural Opera and Ballet (Yekaterinburg) as Principal Dancer.
Alessandro debuted as a choreographer whilst still a graduate student of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, with his piece "Symphony for Two". Since then, he has created works for theatres all over Russia, most notably the Bolshoi Ballet, including the 2025 production "Diaghilev", which
broke both box office and press-release records on the Bolshoi's New Stage.
He has received awards and critical acclaim for his creations, and in 2017 was invited to take part in the Bolshoi Theatre’s young choreographers programme “FACES”. From 2016 through to 2022, Alessandro was a resident choreographer at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, creating near to 20 works for the students.

“The English-Italian choreographer is a worthy heir to George Balanchine and Alexei Ratmansky, building the sequence and action of the performance into an exciting intellectual dialogue of music and dance.”
Anastasia Popova (“Business Online”)
“Caggegi’s beautifully neoclassical and romantic suite is staged according to all the rules of an abstract ballet. Clear dance dramaturgy served as the basis for a structure of successive duets, trios, solos and corps scenes.”
Olga Ugarova (online magazine “Ballet”)
"... I would advise both Moscow and St.Petersburg audiences, and everyone who is able to get to the beautiful Volga city: go to the Pushkin Theatre to see Alessandro Caggegi’s “The Golden Key". Neither you nor the younger audience will regret it."
Sergei Biryukov (Russian Dance Critic)
